Hello ya'll! Or perhaps I should say Howdy Ya'll, since I was born and raised in the South. Seriously though, I am a big fan of "ya'll", but Howdy not so much....and since we currently live in Houston, ya'll is a normal part of our everyday vocabulary....anyway, I digress....
My name is Kristal and as I mentioned I do live in Houston with my (amazing) husband, Mike, my (precious) daughter, Kali, and my (cute) bulldog, Drako. We are not native Texans (gasp), but we have enjoyed living here for the past 9 years. My husband and I were both raised in Arkansas and we are die hard Arkansas Razorback fans! GO HOGS!! WOO PIG SOOOOIE!!
Mike and I met in college at the University of Arkansas, when we were both studying Chemical Engineering. We were friends for years, but just started dating (secretly...long story) right before Mike graduated. We dated long distance for a few years before we finally were able to live in the same location again. Oh...those...were....fun....years....seriously...dating long distance was awesome! So much anticipation....and I'll leave it at that.... :)
Mike ended up getting his PhD (yes...he is super smart) and we both worked as engineers in the chemical industry for several years. I eventually decided to get my MBA and then made a move over to the "business" side of chemicals. So now I've just about done it all...engineering design, run plant engineering, operations leadership, management, supply chain, and marketing. At one time, I can truly say that I was obsessed with my career.
Which sort of makes it funny that I decided to leave my high powered job behind and become a stay at home mommy after Kali was born. I really had no idea that I was going to do that....I never wanted to be a stay at home mom, but after she was born everything changed. I can't explain it, except to say that "it was a God thing". My heart changed literally overnight, and I knew that it was the right thing to do. Crazy...stuff...I tell you!
So here we are now...and I'm a stay at home Mommy...and I love my life (well, most of the time). It is incredible to actually have time to really live and not just survive. I am enjoying making our house into a home and not just a place to live. My goals now are really different from my former career obsessed self, but I think I am better for it and hopefully the world will be too.
My overall goal....to make the ordinary extraordinary....a pretty hefty goal...but a good one none the less.....
